Therapy
Healing with color and light is a form of
energy medicine known as color therapy. This form of
therapy also known as chromo therapy has been in use for
thousand’s of years. This therapy originated in India,
though the westerners feel that it originated from Egypt
and has traveled far and wide to other parts of the
world as well and has been scientifically approved.
Color therapy awakens the energies of the soul and
harmonizes the physical, mental and emotional balance of
the human body making it feel rejuvenated and capable of
facing the daily trials and tensions of life. The goal
is to restore the balance in the human body and purify
the energies of the mind, body and soul. Some of the tools used in color
therapy are gemstones, candles, wands, prisms, colored
fabrics, bath treatments, and colored eye wear. Color
therapy enables one to feel liberated from repressed
emotions and stresses, creating equilibrium with the
human body and nature. Basically the therapy works
around the seven principle colors of the rainbow. Each
of the seven colors of the spectrum is considered to
possess healing properties, including black and white to
maintain the balance of the body and mind. Each of these
colors is associated with their numerological number and
planet. Each Zodiac sign also is associated with a
color. The main colors are black, white, red, green, and
blue, yellow, violet and so on.
Just as Sun is associated with Golden yellow, Moon is
supposed to be white and stands for purity. Mars is an
earthy sign and red is the color. Saturn is a slow
moving planet and as Hindu legend has it he is the
illegitimate son of Sun. He is dark and hence blue is
associated with Saturn. Jupiter the giver of knowledge
is associated with yellow; Mercury is associated with
green, and Venus is associated with white and silver. It
is interesting to note that the flower Hibiscus which is
red in color has the properties to improve blood cells
in the body. People afflicted with blood cancer are
asked to look at this flower to improve the count of red
blood cells.
Color plays a significant role in our day to day life. It is
said that a man is recognized by his dress and address.
The color of your dress shows what sort of a person you
are and what are your likes and dislikes. For example,
people who like red color are passionate, ambitious and
fiery in nature. Red is also associated with victory.
Green is linked with growth and having green plants
around you can enhance growth opportunities. White, the
symbol of purity brings peace and tranquility to the
wearer. That is why white is worn on wedding days.
Color Therapy also aims to enhance the body's own healing
processes by balancing the body's energy centers, and
also to help stimulate our body's own healing process.
In color therapy light and color are applied in the form
of tools, visualization, or verbal to balance energy in
the areas of our bodies that are lacking vibrancy, be it
physical, emotional, mental or spiritual.
