When turned upside down the gourd produces a rain like sound hence the name rainstick. The rainstick gourd has carved grooves on one side that produce a washboard sound when rubbed turning your rainstick into a percussion instrument. Gourd rainsticks portray plants - animals - fish - flowers - insects and geometric patterns. Each gourd rainstick is colored naturally with a heated metal tool. This gourd rainstick measures approximately 14 inches long by 4 inches wide. Handcrafted in Peru.
